Instead, Microsoft Word has some handy tools that let you change the case of any selected text. So here’s how to change the case of selected text in Microsoft Word for Mac, both via a keyboard shortcut and a menu option. ![]() ![]() For some inexplicable reason, when I copy text from a browser and paste it into a word document it decides that I want to retain the html formatting. Obviously no human being would want this, so I would like to turn this off. Right now I have to go through the paste special menu and select the unformatted text option. I've seen this question asked for different versions of word, but unfortunately the different version are different enough that these answers aren't helpful. I've tried navigating the preferences menu and turning off everything that seemed reasonable, hoping that disabling 'smart style' behavior would be related. Unfortunately 'smart style' doesn't show up anywhere else in the application and seems to be a term invented purely for this settings window, and none of the options seem to obviously do what I'd like. So, my question is simple: is there any way to change the default to only paste the text itself?
